Main Camp is a well recognised Australian Stock Horse stud, with over 200 horses registered with the Main Camp prefix.  Main Camp horses have competed in all ASHS disciplines over the years, with an emphasis on campdrafting and polocrosse.  We believe in breeding quiet, athletic horses, suitable for all the family, which can work all day and have the brains for both sport and show.  We have an emphasis on traditional Australian Stock Horse bloodlines, all the stallions that have stood at Main Camp have been heritage bred.

Current Sires

MAIN CAMP CHRISTOFF – HSH 168162 (HAYDON LASER- HSH/MAIN CAMP EBONY – HSH)
Linked to Main Camp Belle Bloodlines through his mother.  Christoff is a lovely horse to have around, he showed successfully, his highest award being Reserve Champion at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, at 3 years old he was Rookie Horse at the King of the Ranges CHallenge in Murrindi.  He has competed at campdrafts and placed.  Christoff is a black stallion, often getting black progeny.  His progeny are easy to training, smart and athletic while still being tough enough to work all day.  They are showing ability in the show ring and at polocrosse.

Retired Sires

MEGALIGHT – HSH (Retired) 167834 (WARRENBRI OMEGA – IS/TIGERS DELIGHT – HSH)
Bought as a young horse Megalight is a delight to have around as he has a natural affinity to people.  He is a Novice campdrafter having been competed by Wade and Fred Miles.  His progeny are quiet, easy to handle and athletic, showing his genes strongly, they are mostly competing in the campdrafting arena, with Open drafters produced.

MAIN CAMP MAJICIAN – HSH (Dead) 129085 (MERLIN DALLAS – HSH/MAIN CAMP LITTLE GIRL – HSH)
Majician was retained as a stallion as he was a half brother of top polocrosse mare MAIN CAMP LITTLE SOVEREIGN and by MERLIN DALLAS who produced great campdrafters.  His progeny are quiet with cattle sense much prized by the family.  All his progeny have been retained in our breeding programme.

ARUNDLE CADSON – HSH 137928 (Sold) (LINDSAY – IS HSH/ARUNDLE CADDIE – HSH)
With the bloodlines Cadson carried we were happy to add him to the breeding programme.  His progeny have proven to be tough and athletic with a lot of cattle sense and great presence.

WILJOHN COMMET – HSH (Dead) 74647 (WILJOHN RAYMUS – HSH/LISTERS GEM – HSH)
A grey stallion that was brought into the breeding programme when loaned to us by Wiljohn ASH Stud.  Commet retired to Main Camp and we ran various mares with him – the few foals we got are smart and spirited with great instincts on cattle and fantastic getting around the bush.

BENELONG – HSH 35147 (Dead) (chan 02/FRECKLES – FM HSH)
Still represented by MAIN CAMP LARA.
Owned by founding member of the ASHS Bert Griffiths, BENELONG stood at Main Camp for a number of years towards the end of his life.  He produced tough athletic horses that would put in a day’s work and then walk home as strongly as they walked out.  .

Main Mare Lines

MAIN CAMP EBONY –  HSH (MAIN CAMP BELLES WAY – HSH/HANNALEE KRISTIN – HSH)
Dam of MAIN CAMP CHRISTOFF and MAIN CAMP EXPRESSION. Expression has been competing in campdrafting for a number of years with Wade Miles. She is a Novice Campdraft winner, who competed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show 2023 in the World Championship Campdraft. Main Camp Ebony’s progeny are special animals with ability, athleticism, brains and highly trainable personalities. Tough, traditional Australian Stock Horses, they will work all day and compete at the highest levels.

MAIN CAMP MURTLE – HSH (cabans sovereign 02/bell 01)
Murtle bred 2 fillies which became firm favorties, Main Camp Beauty and Main Camp Lass.  Both of these mares  campdrafted and played top level polocrosse.  They have produced a number of fillies who competed at high levels and have gone on to produce good horses of their own.  the current generation are favourite mares for the family to ride.

MAIN CAMP LITTLE GIRL – HSH (ALAMEDA JACKASS – HSH/ALAMEDA DAWN – HSH)
Out of a mare that was bought from Bert Griffiths for polocrosse.  She never played due to being crippled prior to competition but has founded one of our best polocrosse and cattle working bloodlines via her daughters, Main Camp Little Sovereign and Main Camp Little Sister.

MAIN CAMP BELLE – HSH (ALAMEDA JACKASS – HSH/ALAMEDA STARDUST – HSH)
Bought for polocrosse, Belle proved to have the athleticism and attitude for the game and played for South Africa at the Quadrangular Series in 1982.  She was also a highly successful partner for Christine.  Her progeny have proved themselves to be just as athletic and easier to train.

MAIN CAMP BLUE BELL – HSH (giro colt 02/dolly fog ii 03)
Some of the original bloodlines which can be traced through the mare line to the Walers which were sold from the Upper Hunter either to the First World War or for remounts into India.  Tough horses with a love for a days’ work – these mares are some of the best to work in the hills and with cattle.

MAIN CAMP CASSETTE  (BOLINGER/grey may 01)
Owned by C & F Brooker, Cassette was bred at Belltrees and played A Grade polo.  She has produced wonderful progeny including children’s mounts.  Her progeny are successfully competing in showing, polocrosse and campdrafting and we expect to retain her progeny in the breeding programme for many years.
